Walter Beltrami Trio

Walter Beltrami, chitarra
Roberto Bordiga, contrabbasso
Emanuele Maniscalco, batteria

The group was born in 2003 and since then the band has played a great number of concert in festival and jazz clubs. The trio won the Prize "Incroci Sonori Jazz 2003" and recorded two cds, "wb3, walter beltrami trio" (Philology, 2003), "piccoli numeri" (CamJazz, 2007) and "Timoka" (featuring also Francesco Bearzatti on sax and clarinet; the cd will be released on the first months of 2009). Here follows some extracts from the reviews of Piccoli numeri:

"Superb" (by Dave Wayne, Jazz Review)

"Beltrami possesses an innate lyricism, warm tone and sophisticated sense of harmony. Piccoli Numeri's defining characteristics is Beltrami's sense of melody: so unique to be both unpredictable and eminently singable. For all intents and purposes, Piccoli Numeri is Beltrami's debut on a larger scale and, in its compelling mix of elegant freedom, rich composition and group interaction, is one that augurs very well for a guitarist and trio well worth watching." (by John Kelman, Allaboutjazz)

(by Joerg Konrad, JazzPodium)

“There’s something magical in the rhythms and fabrications of this trio. Something evasive, a colour tone both different and charismatic. A game of intrigues, in which numbers, these finite Piccoli Numeri (“Little Numbers”), become more than a dream…The prose of the trio is scintillatine, brilliant and concise. The perception of sound and acoustic rendition of a three-sided dialogue is extraordinary.” (by Federico Scoppio, liner notes CamJazz)

“Beltrami’s poetry awakens the visual imaginery of the listeners, showing originalità and courage in the choices” (by Mauro Campobasso, Axe Guitar Magazine)
